About Gabby

Gabrielle (Gabby) D. Shirley is senior counsel to the firm, whose practice focuses primarily on business and finance transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, general business planning, and private placements.  Gabby has represented and counseled a wide array of clients including start-ups, middle-market entities, entrepreneurs, and large institutional investors.  She advises clients on a variety of general corporate and business law matters, and acts as general counsel for a number of organizations and companies.

Gabby began her corporate legal career at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in their Investment Management practice, first in the firm’s New York City office and then in its Washington D.C. office, practicing specialized M&A for large institutional clients in both primary and secondary transactions.  At the time, Gabby’s practice focused on strategy and risk-assessment and compliance with state and federal securities laws and other regulatory issues.

Prior to returning to RMG, Gabby spent time working in the Baltimore City Office of the Public Defender’s Parental Defense Division where she represented clients in Maryland Circuit Court.  In furtherance of her commitment to public service, Gabby was recently appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to serve on the Citizen’s Review Board for Children conducting case reviews of children in out-of-home care and advocating for legislative and systemic child welfare improvements to promote safety and permanency.  She previously served for four years as the Board President for the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the success of all children and youth in their communities through meaningful inclusionary practices.
