Gerard J. Gaeng to Receive The Daily Record 2016 Leadership in Law Award

Rosenberg Martin Greenberg, LLP is pleased to announce that The Daily Record newspaper has selected Gerard J. Gaeng, head of the litigation group at the firm, to receive the 2016 Leadership in Law Award. Thirty-eight members of the legal community throughout Maryland were recognized for their outstanding work.

As the Chair of Rosenberg Martin Greenberg’s Litigation Group, Gerry Gaeng has handled successfully some of the region’s largest and most complex litigation matters, in both state and federal trial and appellate courts. He concentrates in complex business and government litigation, including class-action defense, financial institution litigation, administrative law, higher education law, and real estate and construction litigation. A former federal judicial law clerk, Maryland Assistant Attorney General, and counsel to a congressionally created commission that investigated the nation’s savings and loan crisis of the 1980’s, Gerry has been recognized in a short list of Maryland’s “local litigation stars” in every annual edition of Benchmark: America’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys, where clients have praised him for “astounding results” and described him as “simply the best.” Similarly, he has been listed in every edition of Maryland Super Lawyers and in the 2011-2016 editions of Best Lawyers in America, which named him Baltimore’s 2016 “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation – Banking and Finance.

Gerry is Past President and former Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Bar Association – Maryland Chapter, and serves as Towson University Alumni Association President Emeritus, as well as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger. He is also currently Co-Chair of the Towson University 150th Anniversary Celebration. Gerry is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City and the Bar Association of Baltimore County. He is a graduate of Towson University and the Emory University School of Law, and is licensed to practice in the Maryland Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court, District of Maryland, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Nominations for all the awards were received from The Daily Record’s readers in addition to Maryland law firms, bar associations, chambers of commerce and the business and legal communities at large. The Daily Record launched the Leadership in Law Awards in 2001 as a way to recognize the outstanding work being done by members of the legal community throughout Maryland.

“Leadership in Law honorees devote time, talent and energy to bettering the legal profession in addition to the communities in which they live and work,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “They demonstrate a commitment to improving communities throughout our state through notable pro bono work and other means. They are also committed to mentoring, which is a key component of this award. The Daily Record is pleased to honor them.”
