Lawrence J. Yumkas directs the firm’s bankruptcy, debtor and creditors rights, workouts and receivership practice.   An AV rated attorney, Larry is known as a passionate advocate and enjoys a strong reputation for developing and implementing innovative and practical solutions for complex commercial problems and disputes on behalf of debtor and creditor clients.

Before joining RMG in 1995, Larry was the senior associate in the Bankruptcy Department at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, L.L.P., and a judicial clerk to the Honorable Marvin J. Garbis, United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

Mr. Yumkas is a 1985 cum laude with honors graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York and a 1988 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association (Baltimore Chapter), the Federal Bar Association (District of Maryland), the District of Columbia Bar Association, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.  He is a member of the bars of the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.  Larry is the Immediate Past President of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland for 2006-2007.   He frequently lectures on bankruptcy related topics to continuing legal and accounting education audiences.
