Gerard J. Gaeng concentrates on complex business and government litigation, including class action defense, financial institution litigation, administrative law, real estate and construction litigation, education law, and accountants’ liability matters. Prior to joining RMG, Mr. Gaeng handled commercial and business litigation, government litigation, education law and accountants' liability matters as a partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston in Baltimore. He also served as Assistant Attorney General for the Educational Affairs Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, and as a judicial clerk in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Mr. Gaeng was also Counsel to the National Commission on Financial Institution Reform, Recovery and Enforcement, the commission created by the U.S. Congress to hold public hearings and report to the President about the nation's savings and loan crisis of the 1980s. An honors graduate of Emory University School of Law, where he was a Woodruff Fellow, and a summa cum laude graduate of Towson University, Mr. Gaeng is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the bar associations of Baltimore City and Baltimore County. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Mr. Gaeng is the President Emeritus of the Towson University Alumni Association and serves on the University’s Board of Visitors. Mr. Gaeng is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger and of the Emory University Law School Council. In addition, he has lectured and published articles on tort reform, limited liability partnerships, and accountants’ liability issues.
